Karen Glassman is a Pacific Northwest mixed-media artist living in the Umpqua Valley of southern Oregon. She has won awards in regional art shows and has been mentioned in the Oregon Arts Watch publication.

Karen’s art experience began with dance. During her early twenties she danced and taught with a regional ballet company in Vancouver, Washington. She eventually performed with Ballet Arkansas in Little Rock.

Ultimately, she became intrigued with painting. Although she is mainly self-taught, Karen has expanded her technical & compositional skills through studies & experimentation. She works daily to explore and integrate new techniques and tools into her pieces.

Glassman is fortunate to live in the Pacific Northwest, which provides inspiration through nature’s beauty. This includes oceanscapes, high desert, forests, volcanoes, rivers, mountains, and cataclysmic forest fires.

As a mixed-media abstract painter, Karen uses acrylic paints, oils, pastels, cold wax, and textural compounds applied to various substrates.
