I was born and raised in the San Diego area. From my earliest memories, I had a compelling desire to create. In my childhood my grandmother provided key to nourishing this creativity. She invited me to attend weekly oil painting classes, providing with me with my own paints and canvas. I spent the majority of my life dedicated to my husband in raising two boys. Through perseverance and passion to express myself, I have been able to realize my dream as an artist, even if I had to wait until retirement.

I have lived in Roseburg, Oregon since 2006. Shortly after moving, retirement offered me more time and freedom to take art classes. There, I met a wonderful group of new friends, supporters, fellow artists and teachers. With their encouragement I began entering juried art shows, earning many accolades for my body of works. In October 2011, I was accepted into the watercolor society of Oregon.

I am now a partner in Gallery Northwest here in Roseburg. The gallery consists of fifteen talented local artists. I feel very lucky to be surrounded with artists who are willing to share their enthusiasm.

Depending on the painting, my style moves from impressionistic, to abstract, to realistic. I am very detail oriented, which is very therapeutic for me. Despite this attention to detail, I seek out an array of subject matter, including still life of fruits and vegetables inspired by my surroundings. My favorite subjects to paint are flowers from my garden, birds and frogs. Of course, abstracts, incorporating mixed media materials are a great way express form, color, textures and emotion.

I feel very fortunate to be making art with the many new means and materials available. The adventure awaits in using them to create my vision. Endless possibilities at my fingertips!
